Overview
These 5 days of Rwanda safari will take you to Nyungwe forest national park famously known for chimpanzee trekking and primate watching as well as the canopy walk, stop over at Butare national museum which is having anything concerning Rwanda before colonization.
You will do Gorilla trekking in volcanoes national Park which is Rwanda’s oldest park and after all these activities, you will again drive back to Kigali as it is the starting point and ending point of all activities in Rwanda. Fly back home.
Day 1: Kigali
You will arrive at Kigali International Airport and you will be welcomed by our company guide driver who will take you to the lodge of your booking in Kigali you will check in later on and head for a city tour.
Day 2: Travel to Nyungwe with a stopover at Butare national museum
After your breakfast in the morning, you will travel to Nyungwe forest national park through the winding roads. You are going to have your stop over at Butare national museum for some moment to have a look at how the culture of Rwanda was before colonisation, the historical and geographical background of Rwanda plus their foods and traditional beliefs. Also, reach the King’s Palace in Nyanza after proceeding with the journey to check in at the hotel.
Day 3: Chimpanzee trekking and canopy walk
You will have your breakfast in the morning then drive to Uwinka one of the trails used while trekking chimpanzees in Nyungwe and you will be briefed and then led to the park by the ranger guide to looking for the chimpanzees. You will as well be looking at monkeys, birds, different tree species and plants and many more.
When you come face to face with the chimpanzees, you will be given one hour in their presence as you watch over their behaviours. After that retreat back to the lodge for your lunch meal and after in the evening after a moment of relaxation, you will go for a canopy walk to have an aerial view of the Nyungwe forest and other surroundings. Dinner at your lodge.
Day 4: Drive to Volcanoes national park
Having had your breakfast in the morning, head on your relaxing drive to volcanoes national Park in the Northwestern part of Rwanda with a stopover in Gisenyi for your lunch overlooking the blue waters of lake Kivu and after embark on your journey to lodge near volcanoes that were booked for you.
Day 5: Gorilla trekking and departure
Wake up in the morning to have early breakfast, you will drive to the starting point as early as 6:00 so that you won’t be late for the experience. After reaching the starting point, you will be briefed by the Park ranger guide on the rules and regulations followed while trekking these mountain gorillas and then he will lead you to the allocated gorilla family for you to trek.
You will spend a maximum of 8 hours in the jungle looking for these gentle giants but once sighted you will spend only one hour in their sight.
This one hour that is given to you is spent you observing their behaviors, taking photos and asking anything you want to know about mountain gorillas. After your experience, move back to the lodge for lunch and immediately check out from the lodge and drive back to Kigali for your flight back home.
