12 Days Explore Uganda Safari

Welcome to the amazing and special 12 days explore Uganda safari – the opportunity to discover the hidden treasures of the pearl of Africa. During this safari, you will explore different and famous Uganda safari destinations. You will participate in amazing mountain gorilla and chimpanzee trekking tours as well as wildlife encounters.

Amazing boat trips and cultural tours are part of the game. Some of the parks to be visited during the 12 days explore Uganda safari include; Murchison Falls National Park, Kibale National Park, Queen Elizabeth National Park, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, and Lake Mburo National Park.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival and Kampala city tour

Kasubi Tombs Uganda

Upon arrival at the Entebbe International Airport, you will meet our company guide. He or she will brief you about the 12 days explore Uganda safari. You will take on a Kampala city tour.

Visit cultural sites like the Buganda kingdom palace and Kasubi tombs. Lunch will be a hotel in town while you interact with the locals. In the evening, you will check in to your lodge in Kampala for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park Via Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

After breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and drive to Murchison Falls National Park. The park is Uganda’s oldest and largest national Park.

You will stop at the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for rhino tracking. Lunch will be at a hotel in Masindi. Upon arrival, check in to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Morning game drive and afternoon boat cruise on the Nile River

Boat Cruise Murchison Falls National Park

After breakfast, you will go for a game drive to discover the hidden treasures of the park. You will come across zebras, elephants, lions, antelopes, hippos, warthogs, and many bird species. Return to your lodge for lunch and relaxation.

In the afternoon, you will go for a boat cruise on the Nile River – the world’s longest river. You will meet schools of hippos as well as the Nile crocodiles. The boat will take you to the bottom of the falls. From here, you will hike to the top of the falls and take as many photos as you wish. The Murchison Falls are the world’s strongest waterfalls. In the evening, return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Transfer to Kibale National Park

After breakfast, check out of the lodge and embark on the drive to Kibale National Park. Lunch will be along the way. Once you arrive, check in to your booked lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Chimpanzee trekking and Bigodi wetland tour

Chimpanzee Trekking Nyungwe Forest National Park

This is one of the best days on your 12 days explore Uganda safari. The day starts with a delicious meal at your lodge.

You will report to the park headquarters for briefing. After the briefing, you will embark on the search for the human-like chimps. Once you, meet with them, you will spend one hour in their presence. Return to your lodge for lunch and relaxation.

In the afternoon, you will take on a community walk in the Bigodi wetland area. The area is a famous birding destination. You will participate in the activities of the locals like brewing local beer and preparing food. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Visit Amabere Ga’nyinamwiru caves and transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

After breakfast, check out of the lodge and visit Amabere Ga’nyinamwiru caves in Fort Portal. You may as well hike to the top of the world and visit the crater lake region. You will then transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Check in to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 7: Morning game drive in Kasenyi sector and afternoon boat cruise on Kazinga Channel

After breakfast, you will go for a morning game drive in the Kasenyi sector. The sector is home to many elephants and buffaloes. You may visit the Katwe salt mining area and learn about salt mining in Uganda. Return to your lodge for lunch and relaxation.

In the afternoon, you will take on a boat cruise safari on the Kazinga Channel. The channel is a perfect destination for birding. You will also interact with the local members of the community and see multiple species of fish. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 8: Morning game drive in Ishasha sector and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After breakfast, check out of the lodge and embark on a game drive in the Ishasha sector. The area is home to the rare tree-climbing lions. You will see other wildlife species like leopards, antelopes, impalas, kobs, and many more. You will have an en-route lunch as you head to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Upon arrival, check in to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 9: Mountain gorilla trekking and transfer to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park

After breakfast, you will transfer to the park headquarters for briefing. After the briefing, you will go on a gorilla trekking tour.  

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is home to many primates including white colobus monkeys. Upon meeting the mountain gorillas, you will be allowed to spend one hour in their presence. Return to your lodge for lunch.

In the afternoon, you will check out of the lodge and embark on the drive to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. Upon arrival check in to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 10: Golden Monkey trekking and transfer to Lake Mburo National Park

After breakfast, you will take on a golden monkey trekking tour in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park.

Mgahinga Gorilla National Park is a perfect destination for primate safaris. You will meet mountain gorillas but you are not allowed to take pictures since you are not on a gorilla trekking tour. Upon meeting the golden monkeys, you will spend one hour in their presence.

In the afternoon, you will embark on the drive to Lake Mburo National Park. You will make a stopover at the Igongo Cultural Center if time allows you. Upon arrival check in to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 11: Morning game drive and afternoon boat cruise on Lake Mburo

After breakfast, you will go for a game drive in Lake Mburo National Park. Explore the park at length while meeting many wildlife species including giraffes, zebras, leopards, buffaloes, and many antelope species. The park is a haven for birds and reptiles. Return to your lodge for lunch.

In the afternoon, you will go to Lake Mburo for a boat cruise, the cruise will take you to the far ends of the lake and you see many water birds, hippos, and Nile crocodiles. You will also interact with the local members of the communities. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 12: Community tour and transfer to Kampala – Departure

After a relaxed breakfast, check out of the lodge and take a community tour. The tour will take you through the Ankole homesteads and will give you a chance to explore the local communities. You will learn about the long-horned cows and participate in the traditional customs like milking.

You will continue and drive to Kampala with a stopover at the Uganda Equator for photography. The driver will drop you at the Entebbe International Airport for your outbound flight. This marks the end of your 12 days explore Uganda safari.
