Following a recent official communication from the Uganda Wildlife Authority, the costs of chimpanzee trekking have changed. These changes in costing follow a pattern of changes in prices of some products every two years. The last changes in costs of not just the chimpanzee permits but also other products took place in 2024. These prices are still effective until January 2026. This will mark the beginning of a new financial year at UWA that will run for two years until 2028. This is when the other changes in the UWA tariff are believed to again change.

Kibale Forest National Park
Kibale Forest National Park is considered the mother of any chimpanzee trekking destinations, not just in the country but in the region. This is why it is described as the primate capital of the world. At a land mass area of about 799 square kilometers, Kibale National Park, as some call it, is a modest jungle for chimpanzees.
This destination features a sizeable number of about 2,000 chimpanzees, and a good number of these are habituated. It is estimated that over 5 chimpanzee communities of about 500 chimpanzees are habituated and ready for trekking. Such a large number assures visitors of a trekking experience of encountering chimpanzees. This national park is located in the western region of Uganda, covering the districts of Kabarole and Kamwenge.
Kyambura Gorge
The steam of adventure boiled beneath the flat savannah plains of Queen Elizabeth National Park, storming the surface with loud chants of chimpanzees hidden in the Kyambura Gorge. This Valley of Apes wrote its name among the great chimpanzee destinations in the country with great precision.
