Getting a visa to Uganda is very possible for any potential traveler wishing to come and explore the country’s natural wonders and cultural tapestry. A visa is a document that grants permission for a foreign citizen to enter and stay in a country for a certain duration of time. For travelers to Uganda, having a visa is mandatory to ensure that their stay is legal and safe. In Uganda, travelers can be offered single-entry visas to allow them to stay for up to 90 days (3 months) from the entry date.
A single-entry visa is quite simple to acquire since there are numerous Ugandan embassies in most countries around the world. Acquisition can also be done through an online application process, where there is no concern for the administrative bureaucracy people hate. Remotely, potential travelers to Uganda can complete their visa applications via the country’s Immigration Portal, which is https://visas.immigration.go.ug/. As is often the case, this electronic process is commendable since it saves time and costs of traveling to and from the immigration offices.
For potential travelers to Uganda opting for a multiple-entry visa, this is valid for a period of 6 months to a year or 2, from the date of arrival. This allows the traveler multiple entries into Uganda for the period stated. Travelers already in Uganda who wish to extend their visit or stay should go to the Uganda Immigrations offices in Kampala, the capital city of the country before the expiration of their current visa. However, visa extensions are not granted to East African citizens who wish to have their East African visas extended.
Uganda Electronic Visa Application Process

- Log in to the Uganda Immigration Portal – https://visas.immigration.go.ug/
- Press the red button labeled “Start a new application.”

- The next step is for you to upload the requisite documents before submission.
- An application identification number of 6 digits will be generated and allotted for you as a reference number.
- You will be required to make a payment if the type of application requires it.
- If your application does not require the payments, an approval letter will be automatically generated upon approval and sent to the email address you provided.
- However, since your application type requires payment, an approval letter will be generated automatically and then sent to the email address you provided.
- The approval letter will have directions that you should follow to visit a Uganda Immigration office. This is important since you will have your documents captured in the biometric system. Endeavor to move with your passport, payment receipts, and the approval letter since they are required.
- After a certain duration, you will receive communication via your email address regarding the success of your application.
