7 days primates and wildlife in Rwanda

Overview

This seven days primates and wildlife safari to Rwanda will take you to beautiful primates and great apes like gorillas, chimpanzees and golden monkeys and many more.

You will enjoy different national parks such as Nyungwe Forest National Park and volcanoes national park for different attractions and activities. You will also be able to tour the city of Rwanda which is Kigali city and learn more about the historical background of Rwanda.

Day1. Arrival in Kigali

Depending on the time of arrival our well-behaved driver guide will warmly welcome you at Kigali international airport and take you through a quick briefing about the safari to Rwanda. You will drive to the nearest hotel for a late lunch or dinner and stay for the night as you prepare for the next activity.

Day2. City tour and travel to volcanoes national park

The city of Rwanda is known as Kigali and is the cleanest city in Africa. Rwanda is a country full of security so you should fear less about things concerned about security.

On this day you will have your breakfast and move for the city tour where you will be able to visit the Kigali memorial centre and learn more about the historical background of Kigali and Rwanda at large. You can visit any craft shop in Kigali and buy some souvenirs to take home for remembrance and then return to the lodge for a late buffet lunch and relax as wait for the night’s stay as well as your well-organized dinner.

Day3. Gorilla trekking

Rwanda is blessed with only four national parks and among them all, you can only trek gorillas in volcanoes national Park. You will wake up early morning for breakfast and move to park headquarters for briefing and gather to be given a group. These primate apes live in groups or families and each group is led by one dominant male called a silver back.

A minimum number of 8 people are required to trek in a group and a distance of seven meters is maintained. Enjoy taking photos after getting any group to trek, with no flashlights, see how they groom each other, climb up in the trees, communication skills and others. Meet your driver guide after trekking and return to the lodge for late lunch and relax.

Day4. Golden trekking and nature walk

Golden monkey trekking is famously done in Volcanoes National Park with only two habituated groups and it can be traced near mount Sabinyo.

For that matter, therefore, after your early morning breakfast, you will drive to the offices to be provided with the guide to take and head for this amazing experience.  In the afternoon you can opt to visit the community for local beer brewing.

Day5. Depart to Lake Kivu for a boat ride

Arise early morning from your warm bed, have your delicious breakfast and embark on your journey heading to lake Kivu which is located between two countries that is Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

You will have your lunch as soon as arrive at a certain resort on Lake Kivu and after head for an amazing experience of the boat ride. Expect to spot numerous aquatic animals mostly fish, water birds and other interesting creatures. Return to the booked lodge for dinner and a night’s stay.

Day6. Transfer to Nyungwe forest national Park for chimpanzee trekking

Nyungwe forest National Park is well known for its 13 primates including chimpanzees therefore, after an early breakfast you will meet your driver and head to the park offices for a briefing and meet a park ranger guide who will lead and take you into the field in search for these primate apes.

Enjoy their interesting moments after catching an eye with any group such as grooming, communication, patrolling and many more. After you will move back to the office to meet your driver guide and retreat to the lodge for lunch.

You have an option of visiting the palace or community and hearing stories from elders, enjoying the Kinyarwanda dance known as “Intore” which is more full of fun and interesting. After drive back to the lodge for dinner and a night’s stay.

Day7. Return to Kigali

Enjoy your last day in Rwanda as you have your last breakfast early morning still in Nyungwe forest national Park listening to birds’ melodies trying to communicate as leave their warm nests.

Depart Nyungwe forest and drive heading to Kigali where you will have your picnic lunch as your driver waits thereafter you will be dropped off at the airport and fly back home.
