Overview
Your 3 days chimpanzee trekking tour in Rwanda will take you to Nyungwe forest national park which is home to 13 primates and several more other unique attractions, you will have your stopover at the Ethnographic museum.
You will take part in chimpanzee trekking which is the main activity and then a canopy walk in the evening after chimpanzee trekking. You will then travel back to Kigali and have a city tour in the smartest city in East Africa to look at some good things in Kigali.
Day 1: Travel to Nyungwe forest national park from Kigali
You will be transferred to Nyungwe forest national park immediately after meeting our company driver guide who will be waiting for you at the airport in Kigali.
On your way to Nyungwe, you will have a stopover at the Ethnographic national museum with the historical and cultural aspects of Rwanda. You will also have lunch and then proceed with your journey through the winding roads to Nyungwe and check in at the lodge.
Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking and canopy walk
Wake up early in the morning, have your breakfast then transfer to the starting point which is just either Uwinka or Cyamudongo. These are the two main trails that the Park uses while trekking chimpanzees, you will meet the Park ranger guide who will take you through a briefing about chimp trekking thereafter you will head to the forest to look for these great primates.
The search for the primates may take you about 3- 5 hours because they tend to keep moving in the forest to look for what to eat. As you will be still searching for them, you will be looking at other primates like red-tailed monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys and many more since the Park is home to 13 primates including the chimpanzees.
When you finally find chimpanzees, you will be allowed to spend one hour in their presence as you watch them swinging on the branches of trees, communicating, grooming each other, and feeding as you also take photos. After a one-hour experience, you will. move back to the lodge for lunch and after in the evening head for the canopy walk.
This canopy walk is 50 meters above and you will be able to have a stunning view of the primates on the tree tops, birds flying in the air, enjoy the fresh air from the natural forests and take photos as well. Return to the lodge for dinner and your night.
Day 3: Departure
On your last day, you will wake up in the morning have your breakfast then check out from the lodge and drive back to Kigali immediately after you reach the city, you will have a short city tour and you can reach places like the Kigali genocide memorial site, art centers, art museums and the Kimironko Market. Later you will be dropped off at the airport for your outbound flight.
