Day 1: Transfer from Kigali to Volcanoes and Mountain gorilla trekking and return to Kigali
We assume that you have arrived early at the Kigali International Airport or you spent the night at a hotel in Kigali city. You will meet your driver-guide. He or she will brief you about your amazing 1 day Rwanda gorilla trekking tour. You will then embark on the drive through the endless rolling hills of Rwanda to Volcanoes National Park.
Upon arrival at the park headquarters, you will join fellow trekkers for a pre-mountain gorilla trekking briefing. The briefing is meant to equip you with knowledge about the dos and don’ts of the gorilla trekking adventure in Volcanoes National Park (Mountain gorilla trekking rules and regulations in Rwanda). Some of these include rules regarding photography and keeping a distance while tracking the gorillas.
After the briefing, you will enter the forests of Volcanoes National Park which is part of the Virunga Conservation Area, and start the search for a mountain gorilla family. Volcanoes National Park is home to 10 mountain gorilla families and only 8 people are allowed to trek with one gorilla family per day. Upon meeting the gorilla family, you are given one hour to spend in their presence. You will enjoy this amazing moment and it is the highlight of your amazing 1 day Rwanda gorilla tour.
You also encounter multiple primates including white colobus monkeys and golden monkeys. You will also visit the Dian Fossey grave in the Karisoke Research Center. Later, you will return for lunch and transfer back to Kigali. The driver will drop you either at the Kigali International Airport for your outbound flight or at a hotel of your choice in Kigali as you may advise. This marks the end of your spectacular 1 day Rwanda Gorilla trekking tour.
