Drive for the next 8-9 hours straight from the airport to the southwestern regions of the country. There will be an en route lunch to re-energize you for the long drive. Dash through the meandering roars of the Kigezi hills that announce you to the land of the Apes. Head straight for the lodge for dinner and rest before nightfall.

Day 2: Gorilla tracking and transfer to Mgahinga

The next day is up for exploring the Bwindi forest in search of the mountain gorillas after breakfast. This activity of gorilla trekking kicks off with a briefing that commends the rules and regulations of this adventure. This follows a quick grouping into 8-man groups and, thereafter, heading into the forest with a guide ranger to take you to your assigned gorilla family. Depending on where the gorilla family is located, this trekking experience lasts for over 6-7 hours.
The skilled trackers and rangers then lead you straight to these primates, and your hour with the primates starts to tick. The air suddenly feels filled with excitement and adventure upon locating the primates. Take as many pictures of the mountain gorillas as they go about their chores. After exhausting your time with the primates, rally back to the briefing center for debriefing, and thereafter head back to your lodge. Have lunch and then drive off to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. This short journey lasts a few hours before checking into your lodge later by dusk for dinner and sleep.

Day 3: Golden monkey trekking and Batwa tour

Embark on a golden monkey trekking experience after breakfast in the park. As with all these primate treks, this golden monkey trek starts with a short briefing. This captures the dos and don’ts of this activity. Follow the assigned rangers as they take you into the forest and through the bamboo forests that are prone to golden monkey activity. Before long, a trail of bamboo shot leftovers is discovered by the trackers and rangers, thus follow it straight to the golden monkeys. Spend the next hour in their presence, enjoying their active nature of jumping from tree to tree as they play, feed, and later rest. Return to the lodge when your hour with these primates expires.
Lunch will be served instantly as you enjoy it while relaxed. Head out in the afternoon for a Batwa tour for a quick recap of the cultural experience of this ancient group of people. This discovery and educational tour brings out the ancient lifestyle of the Batwa. It also depicts their stories and the skills they obtained over the years living in the forest. A short but exciting entertainment from the host Batwa communities will see you back to your lodge. Enjoy dinner and rest for the night ahead.
