Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival at Jommo Kenyatta International Airport and Transfer to Nairobi
Upon arrival at the Jommo Kenyatta International Airport, you will meet our driver guide. He or she will brief you about the 20 days Highlights of East Africa Safari. He will then take you to Nairobi for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Transfer to Lake Nakuru National Park
After breakfast, you will check out of the hotel and embark on the drive to Lake Nakuru National Park. The park is a famous safari destination in Kenya and is home to many flamingo birds. You may take on an afternoon game drive after a delicious lunch at your lodge. You will spend the night over.

Day 3: Morning game drive and transfer to Masai Mara National Reserve
After a delicious morning meal, you will check out of the lodge and embark on a game drive in Lake Nakuru National Park.
You will explore the lake while seeing millions of flamingo birds that have painted the lake pink. You will encounter other wildlife species and some birds which are Rift Valley endemics. With an en-route lunch, you will transfer to the home of wildebeests – Masai Mara National Reserve. Upon arrival, check in to your lodge or tented camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 4 & 5: Game drives and Cultural tours in Masai Mara National Reserve
Days 4 and 5 of the 20 days Highlights of East Africa Safari belong to this magical African safari destination.
You will be waking up to amazing breakfasts before taking on full-day game drives to explore the park. witnessing the Mara River crossing is the highlight of the safari. The reserve is home to wildebeests, lions, cheetahs, elephants, giraffes, gazelles, antelopes, zebras, buffaloes, spotted hyenas, and many more. Picnic lunch or sundowners at a water pool or under a tree in the middle of nowhere can also be organized upon request. These are perfect for honeymooners to renew their vows in the middle of the wilderness.

Day 6: Transfer to Serengeti National Park
After a delicious meal, check out of the lodge or tented camp and bid farewell to Kenya’s great expanse – Masai Mara National Reserve. You will then cross to Tanzania while exploring the northern parts of Serengeti National Park. An en-route lunch will be organized. Upon arrival, check in to your lodge or tented camp for dinner and spend the night over.

Day 7 & 8: Explore Serengeti National Park
These 2 days are all yours to explore the northern and central parks of Serengeti National Park. Serengeti National Park is home to millions of wildebeests which annually move from the southern parts of the park to Kenya’s Masai Mara. You will witness these animals crossing the Grumeti River.
On the 8th day, you will drive southwards towards the Ndutu region while enjoying scenic views of the surroundings as well as seeing many animal species. A delicious lunch in the bush can be organized by your guide and the lodge upon request.

Day 9: Transfer to Ngorongoro Conservation Area
After finishing your delicious meal, you will check out of the lodge and embark on the drive to Ngorongoro Conservation Area. This is the area where the first remains of early man were discovered. Upon arrival, check in to your lodge for dinner and spend the night over.

Day 10: Full-day game drives in Ngorongoro Conservation Area
Start your day with a delicious breakfast and embark on a full-day game drive in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
The area is home to many animals including elephants, lions, buffaloes, zebras, waterbucks, leopards, and many more. You will have a bush lunch organized to turn your moments into memories. The area is also a reliable birding spot. Expect to meet many Rift Valley endemic species during the game drives. You will also visit the Oduvai Gorge Museum to see the remains of early man. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 11: Transfer to Arusha and fly to Kigali – Rwanda
After breakfast, check out of your lodge and embark on the drive to Arusha. You will have lunch and board a flight to Kigali International Airport in Rwanda. Upon arrival, our Rwanda guide will meet you and take you to a hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 12: Kigali city tour and transfer to Nyungwe National Park
After breakfast, you will take on a Kigali city tour and visit many of the genocide memorial sites. These include; the Kigali Genocide Museum, Nyamatta Church, and many more.
Do not miss to pass by the local markets for amazing tours as well. Lunch and then transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park for chimp tours. Upon arrival, check in to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 13: Chimpanzee tracking and canopy walk
On the 13th day of your 20 days Highlights of East Africa Safari, you will trek the amazing human-like chimps. You will start with a morning meal and go to the park headquarters for a briefing. You will then go for chimpanzee tracking in the forests of Nyungwe National Park. Upon meeting the chimps, you will spend one hour in their presence. Return to your lodge for lunch.
In the afternoon, you will take on a canopy walk on the suspended bridge on top of the forest. You will enjoy scenic views of the surrounding areas as well as many bird species. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.

Day 14: Gisakura Tea plantation tour and transfer to Volcanoes National Park
After breakfast, check out of your lodge and visit the Gisakura Tea Estate. You will learn about tea growing as well as harvesting. Tasting a cup of tea from the source is a signature of memory on your African safari. You will have an en-route lunch and transfer to Volcanoes National Park.

Day 15: Golden monkey tracking and Ibyi’wacu cultural village tour
On the 15th day of your 20 days Highlights of East Africa Safari, you will trek the amazing golden monkeys.
You will start with a morning meal and go to the park headquarters for a briefing. You will then go for golden monkey tracking in the forests of Volcanoes National Park. Upon meeting the golden monkeys, you will spend one hour in their presence. Return to your lodge for lunch.
In the afternoon, you will take on a tour of the Gorilla Guardian’s Village also known as the Ibyi’wacu Cultural Village. You will take part in their daily activities. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.

Day 16: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park – Uganda
After breakfast, check out of the lodge and drive through the roiling hills of Rwanda and southwestern parts of Uganda to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The park is made up of 4 sectors but you will spend the night in one of the sectors. Upon arrival, check in to your lodge for dinner and spend the night over.

Day 17: Mountain gorilla trekking and Batwa community tour
On the 17th day of your 20 days Highlights of East Africa Safari, you will trek the amazing mountain gorillas. You will start with a morning meal and go to the park headquarters for a briefing. You will then go for mountain gorilla trekking in the forests of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Upon meeting the mountain gorillas, you will spend one hour in their presence. Return to your lodge for lunch.
In the afternoon, you will take on a tour of the Batwa communities. These are some of the ancient dwellers of Africa’s rainforests. You will take part in their daily activities like fruit gathering and brewing local beer. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.

Day 18: Explore Lake Bunyonyi and transfer to Lake Mburo National Park
After breakfast, check out of your lodge and drive to Lake Bunyonyi. This is Uganda’s deepest lake and is home to many bird species. You will take on a canoe or boat cruise and explore its many islands. In the afternoon, you will have lunch and transfer to Lake Mburo National Park. Upon arrival, check in to your lodge for dinner and spend the night over.

Day 19: Morning game drive and afternoon boat cruise
You will spend the whole 19th day of your 20 days highlights of East Africa safari exploring this amazing park. A morning game drive and afternoon boat cruise will give you amazing wildlife and bird views. You will realize that indeed; Lake Mburo National Park is the true “Whispers of the Wild.” Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be at your lodge inside or near the park.

Day 20: Transfer to Kampala – Departure
After breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and drive to Kampala. You will stop at the Uganda Equator for an amazing photography experience. You may as well grab some items from the craft shops.
