Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe International Airport and Kampala city tour
You will arrive at Entebbe International Airport, where you will be greeted by a dedicated driver from Standard Safaris.
The driver will brief you about the itinerary and the proper code of conduct of your safari in Uganda. Afterwards, you will be driven to your booked hotel in either Kampala or in Entebbe for refreshments and lunch.
If possible, you will be driven around Kampala city to explore key cultural and spiritual sites such as the Uganda Museum, Kabaka palace, Bahai temple, Namirembe Cathedral, Gaddafi Mosque and Rubaga Cathedral among others. You will be driven back to your hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park, Equator experience and boat trip
Wake up before 6 am for breakfast before your 230 kilometer journey to Lake Mburo National Park via Masaka road. Your driver will ensure that you pause at the equator crossing for memorable photo opportunity along the equator.
You might desire to buy the beautiful handmade crafts and other items for your memento package from this place. Upon your arrival at Lake Mburo National Park, your driver will guide you to check in at your booked lodge where you will be treated to a nice lunch.
You will go on an exciting boat trip under the afternoon sunshine. where on the water, you will have higher chances of spotting the hippos, crocodiles, and a variety of very beautiful bird species such as the Malachite Kingfisher. As the sun sets over the glossy waters of Lake Mburo, you will have a nice scan at the imposing Uganda landscape just before you. You will then return to your lodge for dinner and overnight sleep.
Day 3: Morning game drive, birding and transfer to Bwindi
Wake up for a delicious early morning breakfast at your lodge. You will meet your driver who will take you for an early morning game drive.
You will get the best opportunity of viewing wildlife such as zebras, impalas and other antelope species grazing in the vast ecosystem. You might want to pull out your binoculars to watch more bird species standing on tree branches or simply gliding just above your head. you will return to your lodge for lunch before checking out.
The driver will then transfer you to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in a 191 kilometer road journey to Kanungu district. Upon arrival at your destination, you will check in at your booked lodging where you will have dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Gorilla trekking safari and Batwa community tour
Wake up for an early morning breakfast at your lodge before meeting your driver. Ensure that the lodge staff pack for you some food for your lunch.
The driver will drive you to the park headquarter. You will arrive there before 8 am to be briefed by the ranger guides about the proper codes of conduct of the gorilla trekking trip. The ranger guides will guide you and other trekkers in a thrilling quest for a particular mountain gorilla family. While walking along the forest trails, you will spot a variety of bird species and unique indigenous tree species.
The adventure might last for even a day since the gorillas are mobile animals, therefore you will have your picnic lunch. Once you encounter the mountain gorilla family, you are kindly expected to be in their presence for not more than an hour. So, without flashes, you can take as many photos with your digital camera or phone as possible, while you witness the behaviors of the mountain gorillas.
Afterwards, you will go for a community tour to explore the Batwa people living adjacent the Bwindi forest. Interact with them as you appreciate their unique way of life, cultures and traditions, including their relationship with the forest. You will meet with your driver for a return journey to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
Wake up for another delicious early morning breakfast before an exciting 181 kilometer journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Upon arrival at Queen, you will check in at your booked accommodation facility where you will have your lunch. Then, your driver will take you to the park for an evening game drive.
Have an opportunity to spot a variety of wildlife species including the famous tree-climbing lions, leopard, elephants, antelopes, bird species such as the great white pelican, crested crane and others. Return to your lodge for dinner and a good night sleep in the savanna.
Day 6: Game drive, Launch trip and transfer to Kibale National Park
Wake up early in the morning for a delicious breakfast before meeting your driver guide. You will be driven to the park for a morning game drive where you will witness the famous Queen Elizabeth National Park under the rising sun.
During this exhilarating game drive, you will have an opportunity to see the lion, leopard, hyenas and other predators hunting their prey. Their prey constitutes waterbuck, Uganda kobs, duiker, buffalo, and warthog among others. You will also see the elephants, giraffes and many bird species.
Your driver will ensure that you return to your lodge for lunch before going for a relaxing launch cruise on the Kazinga channel—a wide 32-kilometer-long natural channel that connects Lakes Edward and George. Here, expect to marvel at numerous bird species including the fishing owl, swamp flycatcher, malachite kingfisher, African fish eagle and the shoebill stock among others. There are also hippos and crocodiles to be seen on the channel.
Your driver will transfer you to Kibale National Park, 142 kilometers away and only 2-2.5 hours on road. You will witness the beautiful views of the landscapes and lush vegetation along the way. Upon arrival you will be taken to your booked lodge to check in, have your dinner and a good night sleep.
Day 7: Chimpanzee trekking in Kibale forest and Bigodi wetland tour
Wake up for an early morning breakfast before meeting your driver guide. You will be driven to the park headquarters.
Before 8 am you will be briefed by the ranger guides about your chimpanzee trekking adventure. These knowledgeable ranger guides will lead you through the forest trails to locate the mobile chimpanzees. You will have a great chance to encounter these playful primates swing on tree branches.
Be on the lookout for other primate species such as the black and white colobus monkey, grey cheeked mangabey and olive baboon among others. Return to your lodge for lunch before going to the nearby Bigodi wetland for a swamp tour. Here you will encounter numerous wildlife species such as the black and white colobus monkey, blue monkey, grey-cheeked monkey, mangabey, red colobus monkey, L’hoest’s monkey, baboon, bush pig, Sitatunga, mongoose, bushbuck, civet cat and warthog among others. You will also have the opportunity to buy very nice hand-made crafts and other items sold at the shops. Afterwards you will meet your driver guide to return to your lodge for dinner and a good night sleep.
Day 8: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park and top of the Falls tour
Rise early for a morning breakfast before meeting your driver guide. Check out of your lodge before going on another beautiful journey to Murchison Falls National Park, 265 kilometers away at the northern end of the Albertine Rift Valley. After a 6 – 7 hours’ journey, you will arrive at Murchison Falls National Park offices.
Head to top of the Murchison Falls to witness the might of river Nile cascading over a precipice to create a thunderous roar and mist spray in the air. Your driver will take you to your booked accommodation for dinner and good night sleep.
Day 9: Game drive and Launch cruise
Wake up for an early morning breakfast before setting out on an early morning game drive. As you traverse through the open savannah plains, lookout for lions, giraffes, leopards, buffaloes, elephants, hartebeests, waterbucks, olive baboons, warthogs and others. Birders should expect to witness the Abyssinian hornbill, vultures, rock pranticole, black-billed barbet among others.
Return to your lodge for lunch before going for an afternoon boat cruise on the Victoria Nile. As you drift along the tranquil flowing waters, ensure to be observant of the crocodiles, hippos and bird species that congregate along the riverbanks. Afterwards your driver will drive you back to your lodge for dinner and sleep.
Day 10: Return journey back to Kampala
As your Uganda safari draws to a close, enjoy an unhurried breakfast before your driver meets you for a lovely drive back to Kampala. Enroute, you will make a stop at the Royal Drum Makers to witness traditional drum-making techniques passed down from their fathers. You will reach Kampala or taken to Entebbe International Airport before nighttime to end your tour.
